Dr. Robert R. Pollom, 78, who practiced medicine in Montgomery County for 39 years, died late Thursday night at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando, Fla. He had lived in Kissimmee, Fla., since he retired in August, 1951. Dr. Pollom had been in critical condition at the hospital since he suffered a stroke three weeks ago. Coming to this county in 1912, Dr. Pollom established an office in Darlington where he practiced until 1937, when he moved to Crawfordsville. He practiced here until his retirement. Prior to moving to Darlington, he had practiced at Cates. Born April 2, 1885, in Clay County, he was the son of Martin Luther and Emily Boone Pollom. He received his early education in the Clay County schools, graduating from high school there. He attended Indiana Medical College, then located at Purdue University, and received his degree in 1906. He took post-graduate work at Buffalo University, the University of Chicago and the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Pollom was first married to Lucille Watson in 1906. She and an infant died in 1909. He was married April 25, 1917, to Mamie Lynch at Darlington. He belonged to the First Methodist Church at Kissimmee; Byron Cox Post of the American Legion in Crawfordsville, and the Darlington Masonic Lodge, as well as the American Medical Association and other professional groups. The survivors include the wife; three grandchildren, Roberta Jane Pollom, Robert Martin Pollom and William Boone Pollom, all of Kissimmee; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Esther Jane Pollom, also of Kissimmee, and a number of nieces and nephews. Two children preceded Dr. Pollom in death. A daughter, Louise, died in Crawfordsville in 1944, and a son, Robert Lynch Pollom, an airplane pilot who was killed in a crash in the Aleutian Islands in 1959. During World War I, Dr. Pollom closed his office and served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Funeral services will be held at the Grissom Funeral Chapel in Kissimmee at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, with burial in the Osceola Memory Garden there. Friends are asked to send gifts to the building fund of the church to which Dr. Pollom belonged in lieu of flowers.

Dr. Robert R. Pollom, 78, 115 Brack St, Kissimmee, prominent practicing physician and surgeon in Indiana for 45 years before his retirement died Thursday at an Orlando hospital. A native of Clay County, Indiana he graduated from Indiana Medical College in 1906 and did graduate work at Buffalo University, May Clinic and Chicago University. He practiced medicine in Cayuga, Cates, Darlington and Crawfordsville, Ind. He was a veteran of WWI and member of the Methodist Church, American Legion and Masonic Lodge. Surviving are widow, Mrs. Mamie Lynn Pollom, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Esther Jane Pollom and three grandchildren all of Kississimmee. Grissom Funeral Home, Kissimmee in charge. - kz
